Socio-economic assessment

Title of subproject:

Socio-economic assessment

Introduction:

The objective of this subproject is to assess the relevance of soil compaction in agricultural land use on the basis of a high-resolution GIS and to evaluate the additional cost and possible benefits of improved technologies and management measures. For this reason cost-benefit-analysis will be carried out.

A case study on slurry and manure spreading in early spring and the economics and viability of technological, logistical and management options of manure spreading and for soil protection will be performed because of the amendment of the Fertilizers Regulation due to water protection. In order to limit the nitrogen losses in winter the slurry and manure spreading should be carried out in spring. That might be in conflict of interests with soil protection because of the limited trafficability of soils in spring.
